We require all employees to take their job seriously and give us their best effort throughout their workday. Our employees work on a full-time basis and overtime opportunities are regular throughout the summer. Among the requirements for any applicant to be considered, applicants must be at least 17 years old by June 1, 2015 and be able to stand on their feet a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Students are welcome! In fact, since we are extremely busy primarily during the summer, it fits nicely with student schedules as they are home for the summer from college, preparing for going to college, or just looking to stay busy during the summer.
The students we employ during the summer are held to the same expectations as any adult we employ in all aspects including performance and structured work schedule. The nature of the educational furniture business is highly seasonal. During the months of May through August, we produce and ship 70 percent of our annual sales. As schools are empty during the summer and new school construction is being finalized, we are providing furniture for classrooms and libraries to help schools prepare for the upcoming school year. It is due to the seasonal nature of our business that our manpower needs are much higher during the summer months. We have found that this schedule fits nicely with the schedule that most students have available between school years and is mutually beneficial.
Smith System is an equal opportunity employer. Smith System also uses E-Verify to verify that new employees are eligible to work in the United States.
