Smith System’s new Chat Chair may have been the talk of the NSSEA School Equipment Show. After all, it’s a new concept in student seating, providing an option between lounge seating and classroom seating. Smith System’s Bill Risdall, vice president of marketing, anticipates great acceptance for this chair due to its user-based design. He notes, “if you design furniture based on how kids choose to work together, rather than how instructors require them to work together, kids will find learning is much more enjoyable.”
While it’s not intended to replace either lounge or classroom seating, the Chat Chair is meant to provide a more comfortable type of seating for structured and active learning environments thanks to its generous proportions.
Versatility From the Start
The Chat Chair allows independent groups to form without needing to partition off the room. Additionally, it can be used both alone and can be ganged together in straight lines, horseshoes and curves. The Chat Chair offers great mobility through integral casters that enable “wheelbarrow” moving. It’s ideal for a number of uses including project-based learning within a learning studio, for collaborative learning in a library, for large learning areas outside classrooms and for use in school hallways and commons areas.
The Chat Chair is available in 17 colors with nylon or felt glides. Call Smith System to learn more at 800-328-1061.
