Employee Spotlight – Meet Chase Youngblood
For this month’s edition of our Employee Spotlight series, get to know Chase Youngblood. Discover the most challenging aspect of Chase's job, his favorite vacation spot, and why he chooses to be a member of the Smith System team.
How long have you worked at Smith System?
Over 3 years–when I first came in, I started as a lead-which we pretty much do everything like driving the forklift and several other responsibilities. Last year, I was promoted to Shipping Supervisor.
Why do you choose to continue to work at Smith System?
One big thing is the opportunity for growth at Smith System. If you are dedicated and hard-working, you will continue to move up at the company.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
I really do not think anything is challenging. You just need to show up on time and have the determination to grow and learn. I am so impressed with the culture at Smith System, every year gets better and better.
What are some of your favorite aspects of your job?
I love driving the forklift (it is a lot of fun) and staying busy especially in the summer months.
Now it’s time for some fun questions! If you could travel back in time, who would you want to meet?
Hmm…who would I want to meet? I would love to go back and meet my grandfather. He passed away before I was born and I have heard all of these amazing stories about him and how great of a person he was.
What has been your favorite vacation?
My favorite vacation was this past January. I went to Colorado with my friends and went skiing for the first time. It was so much fun. The first two days were hard, but on the third day, I had it down.
What do you like to do outside of Smith System?
I have a Jeep, and I really enjoy going off-roading with my friends. I also like to go camping and spend time with my family and fiancée, Seselly. I am engaged and getting married in November!
If you had to choose one meal to eat every day, what would it be?
Every day…it would definitely be a rare steak. I love steak.
If you could have a superpower for a day, what would you choose?
I would love to have the superpower to fly– would be really cool to see the world from a top view and see how small we actually are.
What’s one thing you could never live without?
Probably my dogs. I have two dogs, Kylo, a black Labrador Retriever, and Elsa, a Golden Retriever.
