Employee Spotlight – Meet Teshome Balkew

Discover what Teshome does at Smith System, what he likes most about his job and what he enjoys doing outside of Smith System.

Teshome is at the distribution center transferring all of the materials used to manufacture Smith System products.

When did you start working at Smith System?

I started working at Smith System in May 2012.

What are some of your favorite aspects of your job?

I have several favorite aspects of my job. I love how we all work as a team here and that it is a safe place to work.  It is also a place where you can grow and I am extremely happy with management and my supervisors.

What has been your favorite thing so far about working at Smith System?

Working at Smith System makes me happy. Everything is organized, I do not have a lot of stress, and I enjoy my co-workers.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Summer is really busy and just making sure we are reaching our goals so we do not fall behind.

What has been your favorite vacation?

My favorite vacation is taking my three kids to Sea World in San Antonio.

What do you like to do outside of Smith System?

Outside of Smith System, I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to spend time riding bikes, playing soccer and helping my kids do their homework. I also enjoy fixing up things around my house as I have time.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I moved to Dallas in 2004 from Ethiopia and I am thankful to live here in Dallas. I have not thought about moving anywhere else. I have a lot of family here and it is great when we all get together, so many kids running around the house.

What is your favorite food or restaurant?

My favorite restaurant is Olive Garden and my favorite food is any kind of food, thankful for whatever God gives us.

What’s one thing you could never live without?

I pray to God that I will always have my family. They are so important to me.
