Employee Spotlight–Meet The Lopez Family

How long have you worked at Smith System®?

Victor (Father): I started in 1980 and worked until the year 2000, took a break and then started again in 2010. - He has been with Smith System® for 30 years!

Victor Jr. (Son) and Alex (Son): We both started 11 years ago, working in the lines, and eventually worked our way to Production Supervisor and Top Line Foreman.

Juan Carlos  (Nephew & Cousin): I started 3 months ago and worked at Smith System last summer.

How did you all end up working at Smith System®?

Alex: We all started working here because of the great experiences that our father had at Smith System.

Why do you choose to continue to work at Smith System®?

Victor: We choose to continue to work at Smith System® because of the environment. Everyone gets along here and there is always room to grow. We are treated well and also really like the job and all of the people.

What is the most challenging aspect of your jobs?

Victor Jr: The most challenging aspect of the job is training new employees that come through during the summer. Also translating between the different languages. We are very busy in the summer so that can be a challenge to make sure you are staying on schedule.

What's your favorite thing about working here?

Juan Carlos: Everybody gets along, we are all from different backgrounds and cultures and it is really cool to learn from each other. The hours are also great. You really can’t beat the people and also the environment.

Now it’s time for some fun questions!   If you were stranded on a deserted island – What three items would you bring?

What is great about this question is they all answered exactly the same! “Matches, Water and a Knife.”

What has been your favorite vacation?

Alex: I love going to the beach– Florida was my favorite.
Victor, Victor Jr and Juan Carlos: Mexico

What do you like to do on your days off?

Victor: Go to the casino!
Alex: Party!
Victor Jr: Spend time with my wife and son
Juan Carlos: Just spending time at home

What do you think about all working together?

We love it! It’s so nice to have family at work. You get to see your family every day at work, how cool is that? Also, we go home and discuss work, it’s nice to have that in common to have people you can vent to and completely understand.

Is there anything else that you would like people to know at Smith System®?

We would like to invite people to come and work with us! At Smith System®, we are one big family. We work together and there is plenty of opportunities to grow.
