
Employee Spotlight – Dave Smith
Dave Smith has joined the Smith System sales team as Regional Sales Manager for California and Nevada.
“Dave brings experience as both a dealer sales representative and a manufacturer’s representative, which gives him an insider’s perspective into the needs of Smith System’s network,” says Molly Risdall Parnell, National Sales Manager. “Dave will be a valuable resource to dealers, architects and school districts in California and Nevada.”
Smith System has expanded its sales force with the addition of Dave Smith as regional sales manager. With more than 30 years experience in furniture sales and manufacturing, Dave builds relationships with district decision makers, strategizes with Smith System dealers, and works with the A&D community to deliver customized school furniture solutions to districts in California and Nevada.
Dave approaches his responsibilities from the end user’s perspective, digging deep into the problems and needs of school districts to understand how they approach teaching, and educating on how the right furniture can maximize learning success. Dave then works with Smith System’s dealer network to recommend customized furniture solutions to meet the individual needs of each district.
“Dave Smith knows that not every school or classroom is the same, and understands the importance of finding the right furniture solutions for student success,” says Molly Risdall Parnell, national sales manager. “His dedication to building successful relationships with districts coupled with his inside knowledge of what dealers and architects need to be successful positions him to be a great resource to administrators, dealers and specifiers.”
In addition to working directly with districts and supporting dealers, Dave also works with the A&D community to educate about Smith System furniture offerings and help them understand the benefits of comprehensive furniture solutions.
Prior to joining the Smith System team, Dave was the director of furniture sales and marketing at T.H.E. Office City where he built and maintained a formal furniture program, established valuable partnerships with manufacturers, and trained sales representatives. Previously in his career, Dave was a territory manager for Global Industries, a sales representative for Inside Source and held increasing positions of responsibility at Boise Cascade Office Products.
When he’s not working hard, Dave enjoys riding motorcycles, golfing and traveling to the tropics, and is actively involved in his church’s music department.
