A New Chapter Begins at Grizzlies Prep

A Library Designed to Inspire, Connect and Create a Sense of Belonging

What started as a shared vision became an unforgettable moment as students and teachers at Memphis Grizzlies Preparatory Charter School experienced their newly transformed library for the first time. The excitement, smiles and overwhelmingly positive reactions during the ribbon-cutting celebration reflected just how meaningful this new space is to the school community.

Through a special partnership with The Design Besties, Smith System and School Specialty, the library was reimagined as more than a place to read. It is now a vibrant, welcoming learning environment designed to spark curiosity, encourage collaboration and give students the freedom to learn in ways that work best for them.

The Design Besties brought the creative vision, Smith System donated flexible, student-centered furniture, and School Specialty helped bring it all together through installation. The result is a space where students can connect, explore, discover and feel a true sense of belonging.

The reveal was more than a celebration of a beautiful new library. It was a reminder of the powerful impact thoughtful design and meaningful partnerships can have on students and educators.

At Smith System, our purpose is simple: Creating environments that enable the genius inside every student. This library is that purpose brought to life.
